A mold remediation specialist is required to obtain a license issued by the State Licensing Board for Contractors in order to practice mold remediation in the State of Louisiana. To be licensed it requires twenty-four (24) hours of board approved training in mold remediation and assessment and refers to removal, cleaning, sanitizing, demolition, or other treatment, including preventative measures, of mold contaminated materials not purposely grown at that location. A license is required when the value of the remediation exceeds $7,500. No license is required for mold assessment, however training is to include the subject of assessment.
